Top picks from an experienced mom of three that lives in very cold place and loves the outdoors. Let my experience make your decision making process easier. See you out there!
Alright, here is the scoop. I have three toddlers, live in Upstate New York (with long, harsh winters), and crave being out in nature with my kids each day, regardless of how cold it may be. Why do I share this? Because all the above gives me immense confidence that I know toddler snow suits. Like, I know…
I have purchased all sorts of suits over the years. This winter, I can confidently rank my top 3. There is one clear winner – which I will share. That being said, one can argue that toddler snowsuits, like coolers or strollers, may require different styles based on different situations. For example, the ideal snow suit for an afternoon outside playing is different from a snowsuit for getting into the car for errands on a particularly frigid day.
I am not about that cluttered life, so we will start with my top pick and then look at the other two.
Best toddler snowsuit for playing outside in the winter (like, really playing outside for a few hours):

There is one clear winner and that is the Reima Waterproof Reimatic Snowsuit. I have this snowsuit for all three of my kids and cannot rave about it enough.
What do I love about it?
- It is one piece. Need I say more? The kids can easily get it on themselves after a few practice runs, which is a gamechanger..
- It is waterproof and warm. Designed in Sweden, this snowsuit is meant for play in the freezing. My kids have spent many long afternoons and evenings outside with zero complaints about being cold – ever. This suit keeps them comfortable so they can simply play.
- High quality: My kids have put their snowsuits through the ringer – skiing, sledding, making snow angels, rolling down hills…. you name it. The snowsuits show zero signs of wear and tear and we are on year two….
- Generous cut: Reima totally gets it… They design the suits to fit a bit big so that you can easily get two seasons out of them. Who doesn’t love that European dedication to sustainability?
- Practice (and cute) features: The suit comes with a detachable fur lined hood. There are also foot loops, which helps keep the suit over the boots. We have not had one instance of a shoe getting lost in a snow drift no matter how deep the snow is, and that is because of the foot loops.
- Colorful & stylish: This suit comes in all sorts of colors. I chose to go with the brighter colors for safety reasons though I must admit that all three of my kids in vibrant colors against the white snow is quite the vibe. We get complimented all the time.
Cannot recommend this suit enough.
Best toddler snowsuit for throwing on to run errands or make quick trips when it is frigid:

I love this snowsuit for 12 months to 24 months. It’s easy to throw on, warm, snuggly and cute. With this snowsuit, I know my little one was toasty warm whenever we have to venture out for errands in the winter months. Also, it is easy to clean and the price point is great.
Best for having as second suit at school:

Our Montessori school frequently takes the class outside in the winter, which means we are encourage to have a second set of snow gear remain at the children’s cubby for the winter.
This year, we went with the IXtreme Toddler One-Piece Snowsuit, which comes in a few colors, is a great price point for a second set, and has kept the kids warm during winter recess.
Before purchasing this snowsuit, I asked the teacher what was better – a one piece or two piece snow set. For a moment, I thought perhaps two piece would be preferable for school but she immediately replied, “one piece. please!” Can you imagine getting 25 pre schoolers dressed and out the door in the middle of January? Bless these teachers, the true heroes.
Well, that is all I got. Nice and simple. Three options with one very strong winter if you are really trying to have some fun outside with the kiddos for an extended period.
Hopefully this helps you out. See you out there!
